EXECUTIVE PROTECTION SERVICES

Executive protection is the personal close-protection of principals, families, and visiting public figures during travel, work, residence, and events — discreet officers, advance planning, and continuous situational awareness. 247 Private Security fields licensed armed and unarmed executive-protection officers across Los Angeles for studio executives, film and music talent, visiting athletes, high-net-worth families, and corporate principals navigating sensitive engagements. Our EP officers have advanced curriculum beyond the BSIS / DOJ baseline, with annual recertification and detailed-driver experience.

What executive protection covers

  • Close protection — suited or low-profile officer accompanying the principal during work, public appearances, travel, and events
  • Advance work — venue walk-throughs, route surveys, threat assessments, and contingency planning before the principal arrives
  • Secure transport — EP officers trained as detail drivers, operating client-owned or our SUVs (armored available)
  • Residence security during principal’s stay — overnight coverage, perimeter watch, staff vetting
  • Event protection — coordinating with venue security, talent reps, family staff, and law enforcement
  • Travel details — domestic and (with notice) international engagements as the protective detail
  • Estate detail — long-term residential protection for principals based in Los Angeles

Who needs executive protection

  • Studio executives, producers, and entertainment-company principals during sensitive periods (layoffs, contract disputes, public-facing crises)
  • Visiting entertainers, musicians, and athletes during LA-based events, appearances, or recording sessions
  • High-net-worth families during travel, public events, weddings, or sensitive family-business moments
  • Corporate leadership during board meetings, IPO roadshows, depositions, terminations, or activist-investor confrontations
  • Public figures with credible threat assessments — talent receiving online or written threats, principals identified in active investigations
  • Visiting foreign nationals requiring local-knowledge protection during LA business or leisure

What’s included in an EP engagement

  • Single point-of-contact detail leader — one phone number, one named officer running the operation
  • Written operational plan drafted before the principal’s arrival
  • Officer briefing on the principal’s preferences, schedule, comfort signals, and no-go conversations
  • Advance work on every venue + route the principal will encounter
  • Continuous radio + phone coordination between officers, principal staff, and venue security
  • Discretion — suited, plainclothes, or low-profile attire as the engagement requires
  • Coordination with LAPD, venue security, family-office staff, and talent representatives
  • Documented incident reports on any anomalies, threats, or follow-up items
  • $2M general liability insurance — additional rider available for high-profile engagements

How EP engagements typically begin

EP work starts with a confidential phone conversation about the principal, the threat picture, the schedule, the comfort level the principal wants conveyed (suited vs. plainclothes, visible vs. invisible), and the operational budget. From that 30-minute call we draft a written operational plan with the named officer who will lead the detail, expected officer count by phase, equipment and vehicle requirements, and any law-enforcement liaison needs. Most EP engagements require 48–72 hours of advance notice for proper planning and officer selection. Emergency same-day deployment is possible for active threats — call dispatch and a supervisor will brief and stage officers immediately.

Why 247 Private Security for EP

Executive protection demands more than a Guard Card — it requires emotional intelligence, situational awareness, and the kind of judgment that only comes with years on detail. Every officer assigned to EP at 247 Private Security has completed advanced EP curriculum (Pacific West, Gavin de Becker–style, or equivalent), holds an active DOJ Firearms Permit, has been vetted through multiple background and reference checks, and has prior detail experience documented in our compliance file. PPO #120440 through the California BSIS. Operating since 2009. We do not subcontract EP work — every officer is on our payroll.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between executive protection and a bodyguard?

"Bodyguard" is the colloquial term; "executive protection" is the industry-standard term that captures the full scope — close protection plus advance work, route planning, threat assessment, secure transport, and operational coordination. A bodyguard who just stands near a principal is doing maybe 20% of EP. The other 80% — advance, planning, contingency, coordination — is what actually keeps the principal safe.

Are 247 Private Security EP officers armed?

Both armed and unarmed officers are available; the choice is made based on threat assessment, principal preference, and venue rules (many private events and venues prohibit firearms). Every armed EP officer carries a current California DOJ Exposed Firearm Permit with annual range qualification. Unarmed EP officers carry full BSIS Guard Card credentials and have the same advanced EP training.

How much notice do you need for an EP engagement?

Standard EP engagements require 48–72 hours of advance notice for proper planning, officer selection, advance work, and operational-plan drafting. Emergency same-day deployment is possible for active threats — call dispatch and a supervisor will brief and stage officers within 2–3 hours.

Can you provide EP for travel outside Los Angeles?

Yes — domestic travel is standard for our detail-leader-class officers. We can also travel internationally with principals when retained, coordinating with local protection providers in the destination city. International engagements require longer advance notice (typically 7–10 days) for proper visa, permit, and local-liaison work.

How much does executive protection cost?

EP rates depend on officer count, engagement length, complexity, and threat profile. Single-officer suited detail typically runs $95–135 per hour with a typical 8-hour minimum. Multi-officer details for higher-profile principals or threat scenarios run higher. Monthly retainers for long-term residential EP can offer better predictability. Initial scoping call is confidential and free — call dispatch at 818-805-4342.

Will the EP officer be visible or invisible?

Either, per principal preference. Visible (suited, badge, earpiece) is the right choice when the principal wants the deterrent effect of obvious protection — public appearances, contentious meetings, hostile environments. Invisible (plainclothes, low-profile, no obvious indicators) is the right choice when the principal wants to move through environments without drawing attention. We brief officers per engagement on which mode you've chosen.

Is the engagement confidential?

Yes. We do not disclose client identities, schedules, threat assessments, or operational details — to media, to other clients, or in marketing. Confidentiality clauses are in our standard EP engagement letter. Internal access to your file is limited to the assigned officers and operations leadership; everything is stored on access-restricted systems.
