ALARM RESPONSE

Alarm response is the on-site investigation of a triggered security alarm by a licensed officer — the human follow-up that turns a sensor signal into action. 247 Private Security dispatches BSIS-certified, armed or unarmed officers across Los Angeles within 90 minutes of a verified alarm, every hour of every day, from our Chatsworth command. We coordinate with your monitoring company, your property contacts, and LAPD when situations warrant it.

What alarm response covers

  • Burglar / intrusion alarms — door, window, motion-sensor trips
  • Glass-break alerts from interior and perimeter sensors
  • Panic-button activations from residential or commercial panels
  • Smoke / heat-alarm verification — we coordinate with LAFD when needed
  • Driveway + perimeter sensor trips on estates and gated properties
  • Camera-detected motion alerts from monitored CCTV systems
  • Tamper alerts on alarm panels or sensors

How alarm response works

Most alarm-response calls follow a documented five-step flow from the moment your panel triggers to a written incident report on your desk within 30 minutes. The exact sequence is in the "How it works" block below.

Coverage area

Cities served: Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Hollywood Hills, Calabasas, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, West Hollywood, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Westwood, Pasadena, plus all of Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Ventura County. Our 90-minute response window covers most of the LA basin; properties in remote canyons or extreme distances may run 100–120 minutes depending on traffic and unit availability.

Who alarm response is for

  • Residential estates with monitored alarm panels — first-response after sensor trips
  • Commercial properties holding overnight inventory, cash, or controlled access
  • Vacant homes during owner travel — short-term alarm response retainers
  • Production studios + post-houses after wrap, when sets are unattended
  • HOA-managed gated communities with shared central monitoring
  • Family offices managing multiple residences — single retainer covering all properties

Pricing models

Alarm response is offered two ways: (1) Monthly retainer — a flat monthly fee covers any number of alarm calls during the month (most common for residential clients with monitored systems). Retainer plans for typical residential alarm volume start at $250/month. (2) Per-call — pay only when an alarm triggers a dispatch, with no monthly commitment. Per-call rates start at $150 per dispatch for unarmed response and $225 per dispatch for armed. Pricing depends on time of day, response distance, and whether the call is during business hours or overnight.

PROCESS

How it works

  1. 01

    Alarm Triggers

Your monitoring company or panel calls our 24/7 dispatch line. Dispatch verifies the alarm code and looks up your file for address, gate codes, contact tree, and any specific instructions.

  2. 02

    Dispatch Verifies + Routes

Duty supervisor confirms the alarm with your property contact (if available), then routes the nearest patrol unit. ETA is pushed to client + monitoring company in real time.

  3. 03

    Officer Arrives + Investigates

Officer arrives on site, sweeps the perimeter, enters with key or code if pre-authorized. Documents condition of doors, windows, sensors, and any visible damage or signs of forced entry.

  4. 04

    Escalation Decision

If officer finds signs of intrusion, LAPD is dispatched immediately and officer holds position until law enforcement arrives. If false alarm, officer resets the panel (if authorized) and identifies the trigger cause.

  5. 05

    Written Incident Report

Report emailed to client + monitoring company within 30 minutes of officer departure. Includes time stamps, photos (where applicable), sensors triggered, condition observed, and recommendations for any follow-up.

FAQ

Common questions

How fast can you respond to an alarm in Los Angeles?

Standard response window is under 90 minutes from dispatch to on-site, anywhere in our core coverage zone. Most calls in West LA, Hollywood, and the San Fernando Valley are answered in 30–45 minutes. Properties in remote canyons (Bel Air upper, Malibu interior) may run 100–120 minutes depending on traffic.

Are your alarm-response officers armed?

Both armed and unarmed officers are available. Armed officers carry current DOJ Exposed Firearm Permits and complete annual BSIS-required range qualification. We recommend armed response for any property where the trigger could indicate a present intruder (occupied home, cash on-site, prior incidents) — unarmed is the standard choice for most retainer clients responding to typical false-alarm rates.

Do you coordinate with LAPD on intrusion calls?

Yes. When an officer arrives and finds signs of forced entry, broken glass, open doors, or other intrusion indicators, dispatch contacts LAPD directly with the address and our officer's badge ID. The officer holds position from a safe distance until law enforcement arrives. We document every coordination call for your records.

What does alarm response cost?

Two models: (1) Monthly retainer — flat fee covers any number of calls. Residential plans start at $250/month. (2) Per-call — $150 per dispatch for unarmed, $225 for armed. Retainers are the better choice for any client whose alarm system trips more than once a month or who values predictable billing. Request a written quote for a property-specific rate.

What if it is a false alarm?

Officers still respond and file the same incident report. Dispatch helps reset the panel (if you have pre-authorized us with the code), walk the property to confirm the false-trigger source (door not latched, animal motion, sensor fault), and flag patterns. Repeat false alarms get a free system review at the 90-day mark — sometimes a sensor needs adjusting and we'll spot it before you do.

Can I add alarm response to existing patrol service?

Yes — alarm response is included free-of-charge for clients on a monthly patrol or standing-guard contract. Standalone alarm-response engagements (without other coverage) are also available either as monthly retainers or per-call.

What information do you need from me to set up alarm response?

Property address with gate / key access details; monitoring-company name + account number; alarm-panel code (if you want officers to reset on-site); list of authorized property contacts in priority order; any specific instructions (pets, alarm patterns, residents to call vs. not call). We collect all of this during the first setup call — takes about 15 minutes.
