24/7 SECURITY COVERAGE

24/7 security coverage means an officer is on post — and a supervisor is on dispatch — every minute of every day, with no gaps for shift changes, breaks, or holidays. 247 Private Security provides round-the-clock armed and unarmed coverage for Los Angeles estates, commercial properties, production lots, and gated communities, with documented three-shift rotation, backup officer dispatch within 60 minutes of any absence, and continuous radio supervision from our Chatsworth command.

What 24/7 coverage actually requires

True 24/7 coverage is harder than it sounds. A property is only as protected as its weakest moment — and most security failures happen during shift changes, lunch breaks, holiday weekends, or whenever a single officer is expected to cover too long a shift. Real 24/7 coverage requires:

  • Three documented shifts — typically Day (6am–2pm), Swing (2pm–10pm), Graveyard (10pm–6am)
  • Officer relief overlap at every shift change so the post is never momentarily unmanned
  • Pre-assigned backup officers for sick calls, family emergencies, or scheduling gaps
  • Continuous dispatch supervision — every officer in radio contact with a duty supervisor at all times
  • Holiday + weekend coverage built into the contract, not as exceptions or premium-rate surge days
  • Documented incident logs filed at end of every shift, not just end of week

What 247 Private Security 24/7 coverage includes

  • Uniformed officers (armed or unarmed per post orders) on a documented three-shift rotation
  • 24/7 dispatch oversight from our Chatsworth command — every officer in continuous radio contact
  • Backup officer within 60 minutes for any sick call, emergency, or unexpected absence
  • Holiday + weekend coverage at standard contract rates — no premium surcharges
  • Daily shift reports emailed to property managers and HOA boards
  • Monthly operations review with our supervisor to refine post orders + address patterns
  • $2 million general liability insurance covering every officer on post
  • No subcontracting — every officer is on our payroll, vetted, and trained by us

Pricing — what 24/7 actually costs

True 24/7 coverage requires roughly 168 officer-hours per week (24 × 7) — three officers averaging 56 hours each across rotating shifts. Realistic pricing:

  • Unarmed 24/7 standing post: $20,000–$28,000 per month, including weekends and holidays
  • Armed 24/7 standing post: $32,000–$48,000 per month
  • Multi-officer details (e.g. 2 officers on post 24/7): roughly double

If the price you’re quoted elsewhere is dramatically lower than the above, the provider is likely cutting corners — single officer pulling 60+ hour weeks, no backup roster, no real supervision, or subcontracting to lower-tier agencies.

Who needs 24/7 coverage

  • Residential estates with credible threats, high-value contents, or principals in residence
  • Gated communities requiring round-the-clock gate control
  • Commercial properties with continuous operations or overnight inventory
  • Production lots and studio facilities with ongoing principal photography
  • Construction sites in their active phase
  • Vacant high-value properties during owner travel or estate transitions
  • Cannabis dispensaries and other cash-handling operations

How it works

  1. 01

    Coverage Audit

A duty supervisor reviews your property and current coverage (if any) to identify gaps: shift changes, breaks, weekends, holidays, and any times the post is unstaffed.

  2. 02

    Three-Shift Plan

Written 24/7 schedule with named primary officers per shift, named backup roster, holiday-coverage schedule, and overlap protocols at every shift change.

  3. 03

    Post Orders + Officer Briefing

Single written post-order document covers all three shifts so officers hand off context cleanly. Every officer briefed before first shift.

  4. 04

    Active 24/7 Coverage

Officers on post in rotating three-shift cycle, continuous radio contact with dispatch, documented checkpoints, real-time incident escalation.

  5. 05

    Daily Reports + Monthly Review

Daily shift reports emailed to your contact. Monthly operations review to refine post orders, address patterns, and adjust coverage as your needs change.

FAQ

Common questions

Is one officer doing 24/7 coverage realistic?

No. A single officer cannot sustain 24/7 coverage — California labor law caps shifts and human attention degrades sharply after 10–12 hours. Genuine 24/7 coverage requires at least three officers rotating Day, Swing, and Graveyard shifts, plus a pre-assigned backup roster for sick calls. Any provider promising 24/7 with a single officer is cutting corners.

What happens during shift changes?

Officers overlap at every shift change — outgoing officer briefs incoming officer for 15–30 minutes before leaving. Post is never momentarily unstaffed. Hand-off includes anything observed during the shift, any access events, and pending follow-up items.

How do you handle holidays?

Holiday coverage is built into your contract at standard rates — we do not charge surge or premium pricing on Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving, or July 4th. Officers on holiday shifts receive premium pay from us; that cost is amortized into the standard monthly rate.

How fast can you cover a sick call or emergency absence?

Backup officer dispatched within 60 minutes of any unscheduled absence — your post is never left empty. We maintain a rotating backup roster specifically for last-minute coverage. The backup officer arrives, takes hand-off from any officer present (or reviews the post-order document if no one is there), and continues coverage.

What is the realistic monthly cost for 24/7 unarmed coverage?

Unarmed 24/7 single-officer standing post runs roughly $20,000–$28,000 per month, including all weekends and holidays. Pricing depends on property location, number of officers required on post simultaneously, and any specialized requirements (multilingual, EP-trained, etc.). Armed posts run higher.

Can I combine 24/7 standing coverage with mobile patrol?

Yes — many estate clients use a 24/7 standing guard at the main gatehouse plus mobile foot or vehicle patrol on a 30-minute interior cycle. Combined, you get gate-screening continuity plus active interior patrol coverage at a lower combined cost than two separate 24/7 posts.

Do I need a separate alarm response service if I have 24/7 coverage?

Usually no. When a 24/7 officer is on post, they are the alarm response. Your monitoring company calls our dispatch, dispatch radios the on-post officer, officer investigates the trigger immediately. Alarm response is included free of charge for clients on 24/7 standing-guard contracts.
